S2, SC: "Reverse Spawncamping Demo #2"

Video link

The video description sums most of it up. I'll try to add.

I admit that I may have been a little too bitter at the time about the false copyright claim since the false claimant at least showed some good faith removing the claim, but it still a dumb thing to deal with, considering it took 30 days for the copyright claim to be cleared (the max duration required to respond to an appeal). I didn't want to wait that long for a second channel upload, so I changed the music to not trigger the false copyright claim again. It does take away from the video, having to change a part of it because of somebody/somebot else's mistake. You can watch the "original" version here (I didn't want to hide the edited version because it would seem disingenous to do a switcheroo like that to my viewers, no matter how many there currently are).

I only really get a little unsettled when the claim is false. The copyright claim system is still flawed on YouTube regardless, as the claimant always takes 100% of the money, which is very unfair as it doesn't take in account the amount of copyrighted material you used in your video. But, there is at least some way to counter this flawed system by creating own music and claiming your own video yourself. Doing this allows you to split the money with the false claimant instead of ending up with no money at all from all your hard work making your video.

If you're curious, I don't have any ads on any of my videos right now, as I find it a smarter move to enable ads when my channels are more reputable. Even still, I have some ethical standards with ads, so I would only enable them on videos that deserve them, most likely if as much of the content in the video is mine as possible (if I do start putting ads on any of my channels, I'll probably make a post about the criteria). I would like to make this whole YouTube thing a living. as its pretty much the only thing I can do without feeling I'm wasting away when I could be making entertaining videos.

Yep, video info. This was a sequel to the other "Reverse Spawncamping Demo" video I made. For some reason I was still recording these kind of frags or still had some lying around.

Music choice much like it's predecessor, chosen to compliment evil, bad and sad "strategy" I was using.

Seems like I was obligated to make an SFM animation intro for this one as well. I was a bit more creative this time and added a tent with a BBQ grill to fully sell the "reverse camping" thing I was doing. To make it a little more special, I added a little easter egg in the intro:

"You thought I was gone. Think again." - Thanos 2019

I'm not sure if I'll be telling you about every single easter egg I make since it would kind of suck if no-one ever knows, but maybe that's the appeal in them - being rare and caught by the most keenest of viewers.

I guess I'll eat my hat now.

I kind-of interesting clip but not interesting enough for the main TF2 channel. Description on YouTube pretty much says it all.

Upon further inspection, it's hard to tell if the scout shot at all, since the phlog was so loud with its crits.

I'm not sure sketchek added voicelines to his videos, but I didn't want to add voicelines to mine, as I didn't want to mimic an in-game thing as it would feel fake to me, even though adding a "Thanks!" voice line would add to the video, I'd rather have the video as real as possible.

I don't know if I have to keep saying "sketchek inspired this", "sketchek inspired that" over an over again because it's pretty obvious at this point. Anyways, the description was inspired by sketchek's "pyrokinesis α" video.

His description :

PKファイアー = PK Fire, but directly it says "PK Faia"

My description:

PKチョップチョップー = PK Chop Chop, but directly it says "PK Choppu Choppu"

"PK Fire" is a real special ability in the Mother series that sketchek used to add further to his whole Earthbound vibe he was going for. "PK Chop Chop" is a made up one by me to not copy and to describe my video, which was emphasised on axtinguisher kills. Axe goes "chop chop". My Japanese abilities are still at their absolute infancy, but I knew enough to recognise that the description contained Katakana, which is commonly used to write foreign words and phrases.

Oh nice, at the time of writing this, I have adjusted my Japanese translated name.

First, it was in Hiragana, when I didn't know that katakana is for foreign (to Japan) names like mine:

びんぐそい - Bingu Soi

Then when I know about the whole Katakana thing, it was:

ビングソイ - Bingu Soi

And now, realizing that "Soy" in my name is derived from soy sauce (I made my name):

ビング大豆 - Bingu Daizu

When I think about it the "Soi" sounding part didn't feel right. I didn't really want it to be "soya" because that doesn't sound like "soy" much (when pronounced with Japanese phonemes - which is why I opted for "soi"). But that doesn't matter now as I have gotten a nicer outcome. "Daizu" feels more right, because the "Soy" was actually derived from "soy sauce", so it has actual non-foreign meaning in Japanese and can even be written in Kanji, which looks cooler.

I would like to learn Japanese, since I already appreciate much of their culture (doesn't mean all of it) and would like to appreciate it more by learning the language. There may have been things stopping my progress learning Japanese before, but now it's on me. I would ideally like to get my life more sorted in the more fundamental areas first before fully committing to non-immediately-essential abilities.

Oh right, back to video information. It seems like I go off in tangents at times. Perhaps learning more about me is a plus side to going through these blogposts, yes?

The music choice was intended as a kind-of reprise from sketchek himself (even though the Fourside theme had a reprise and wasn't one itself). It gives off a vibe that things are back and better than ever; things are better here; welcome to the big world; we are back in action, in a similar way how the Fourside theme accomplishes. Music is a powerful thing.

This video is one of the very few dedicated pyro compilations I have and it takes me longer to make them because Pyro is my favorite class, holding a closer place in my heart (or whatever is left of it) which means I will take longer to make sure they are even more good enough to upload. Pyro clips take a longer time to make because I also have higher standards for the frags themselves. I have deleted so many potential frag demo files since they didn't make the cut. I know some others would be happy to even have made frags like the ones I deleted but I couldn't compromise my own standards.

S2: "thrust α"

Video link

You
may notice that the dates of the demos are all mixed up. I was still pretty new to taking my TF2 production more seriously and at the time edited in whatever looked the best, not worrying too much about chronological order. Overtime (from S2 to S3), I got more focused on chronological order first, then whatever was best for the video (some exceptions are allowed but chronological comes first).

I think I had a big break from TF2 before I discovered the thermal thruster+new pyro weapons. Maybe 1-2 years? I don't remember exactly when I took my breaks. Maybe I wanted to do this before the more conventional Pyro frags (flares, axtinguisher, etc.) since it was more new and unique to me. Why I took a big break? Maybe a story for another time, along with more TF2 history before all of this...

For the music choice, I went further and made a music cover. I like deadmau5, and I happen to know one of his songs "Cat Thruster" which could fit in with my video, having thrusters an all. Even further, I made it into a Mother 3 cover, since sketchek seems to like using tracks from the Mother series in his videos.

Cat Thruster Mother 3 cover project in FL Studio

The cover wasn't very complicated, as I just had to copy the melody of  "Cat Thruster" and adapt it into a Mother 3 cover with a soundfont, portmanteau and some basic volume automation curves. When I do covers like this, I try to first copy the melody by ear first to add extra experience and familiarity with the track before giving up and finding a midi file to help me. A homage to deadmau5, Mother 3, and begrudgingly, sketchek (since season 2 onward is post sketchek apology).

Of course, naming convention of using Greek letters for numbering videos in a series was inspired by sketchek doing the same, who was inspired by the Mother series which used Greek letters for PSI tiers. I feel ok doing this since I have the entirety of Mother 2 (Earthbound) & 3, and some of 1 (will try to finish it in future).

I'm not sure if I will continue the same kind of naming conventions as sketchek in the future as I would like to be more my thing, but saying that, I have kind of inherited his characteristics; his abilities. Perhaps this is my stand ability - to take other's abilities and make them my own.

Hopefully I didn't inherit his bad parts. I may have put that in a more joking manner but I do worry about me somehow becoming a horrible criminal or doing horrible things since there are bad people in the world who exist. I see it as a "if someone can do it, so can I" sort of thing - good or bad. It is foolish to ignorantly thing that you are incapable of such horrors 'coz nek minnit, you're head of an international crime syndicate, complete with human trafficking and drug trade (half joking).

Looking at how I communicate, it seems like I try to soften the blow with jokes when I'm trying to be real because when I'm being real, it tends to be too much, especially those oblivious/don't care about the world outside their one (I don't mean this in an insulting way, it's just how it is).

I know that I could probably structure the demo info below in a more neat fashion, but I don't have the brainpower to do it now. I'm focused on getting all these blogposts done for closure, so I can move on to bigger and better projects.

Note that the info below is for archival/historical/informational purposes. Just because I took a short time/long time making things, doesn't automatically make it more valuable/better. The end product is what you should judge in the end, and the process is just something nice to reflect upon, seeing the process and all.

You may notice that the dates on the demos will flucuate quite a bit. Demos may be several months/years old or might even be recent. I've been sitting on my demos so I could be able to meet or exceed the standards sketchek put in place, so I could properly carry the "torch". Since there was no more "torch" to carry, there were some concessions I was willing to make to get my videos out regardless. Even if it meant not putting out as impressive as sketchek himself, even though I still have a mindset of constant improvement and not doing the exact thing over & over without evolving.

I learned a bit about using HLAE, in conjunction with Lawena
for recording the demos. I had a little experience with Lawena at that
point and as of now (as I'm writing this), I'm more experienced with a
more streamlined workflow (though it can always be improved). Lawena
allows you to record high-quality video & audio straight from the
game and HLAE allows you to record different angles of the footage.
Warning: HLAE is technically a hack, so it should only be used for
making movies as you will probably get banned if you have HLAE on while
joining a server.

This video was my first time including a new camera angle (separate from the player) with footage. sketchek already had some shots of his videos featuring different camera angles. I couldn't be content with not learning how to do that. I went even further and edited in the other camera angle in a way sketchek hasn't done before, to be more original and creative. Doing that really added to the video since you know that I was stalking that scout.

The titling, description and music were inspired by sketchek's videos "repeat offender" and "宅配" (translates to delivery). I used "Plant Sneaking Theme" from MGS2 since it's the go to sneaking theme for anything and it fit with the video, since I was kind of sneaking around, being unseen by the scout, finally delivering a killing blow from behind, and then I killbind. sketchek influenced me to killbind a lot when I do an interesting frag since he does it sometimes. I kind of took it as a way to show that you don't take the game really seriously and its all in good fun.

Also I think this quote from sketchek's video "謝罪" (apology) also helped inspire the description.

"...I can no longer bear the weight of my sins, which is why I've decided to come out with the truth, and apologize for lying."

- sketchek, 謝罪, 2019

Yeah.

My video categories in general are inspired by sketchek in general, but in season 3, I decided to categorize my videos properly.

When I think about it, it's kind of weird that I feel like I'm not good friend material or fit out to have friends considering the thing sketchek did. I keep feeling like I always have to prove myself, despite everything else other people do, better or worse. Maybe it's still just me trying to not become the things that have hurt me and me wanting to protect the world from adding yet another bad apple in the bunch (I don't want to become yet another typical ignorant and selfish human that cares about nothing but themselves/their friends who antagonize anyone outside their circle).

S2, SC: "TF2 Demo JPEG vs TGA Comparison"

Video link

I accidentally typed "S2" in the blog title and just realized that this should be in seasons, not chapters, since chapters are more for books, and seasons are more for TV shows. Good thing I caught that. Will be updating "CH" (chapter) to "S" (season).

Writing these posts are kind of making me more insane than I usually am. I have been sacrificing sleep and have been playing less games. I've been watching more videos and livestreams on my second monitor so I can keep working on the blogs to fulfill some social/entertainment needs. I know that I really should talk to people on Discord, but I shut it off so I can finish these posts because I care about what people think and I tend to ruminate over what people think of me. Often times, keeping quiet seems like the best option.

Oh right, back to some info on the video.

The description back on YouTube pretty much sums it up. JPEG was the no brainer here - high quality, lower file size. Just some more honing of my TF2 video production process. I made a preset effect here for all my future TF2 videos to come - a basic sharpen and curve adjustment, with an emphasis on keeping the visuals as true to the game as possible. Although that was in mind then, I might be experimenting with more adventurous color grading in the future, to expand my creative control in my videos (may be prevalent in season 3, since I'm writing these posts in season 3).

S2, SC: "TF2 Demo Bitrate Export Comparison: 16/60/150/300 mbps"

Video link

Oh, nice. I already did get technical in the video description on YouTube. Seems like I wasn't afraid to get technical in my own second channel.

This was my testing video for my "walls" video where I compared export settings (bitrates and such).

To sum it up, I ended up using the highest settings, exporting at 1440p, since YouTube uses a better compression codec for 1440p videos. My videos are originally 1080p, but I have upscale them to meet the criteria.

There is another way to get the better codec and its by being a bigger YouTuber (more video views) and then your videos get that better codec by default (probably for serverload priority reasons). Even still, 1440p still makes 1080p look as close to its original possible and I would like to upgrade to real 1440p with a 1440p monitor to further increase the quality of my videos.

I was wondering why my videos were looking so compressed when I uploaded them, so I dug around, experimented, then found a solution. I couldn't settle for less when it comes to video quality, especially for this channel - especially for this empty tribute.

I know this "tribute" is not completely empty, since I was doing it partially for people who liked sketchek's style of video and me, but the main component of the tribute was because of sketchek not being around anymore.

Somehow, this was uploaded after "walls". It probably came down to uploading the smaller file first so I can get the video out quicker, then uploading the test video (this one) next. Note that the videos I upload are basically uncompressed, beefed up as much as they can, to preserve the most quality. This is the standard of quality I have.

At the time and still now, I'm trying to get my standards to a level where I can more steadily pump out content, while still having it high. I'm not sure if I can really lower it, but I'm going to try doing stuff despite what people could think about it. I know you shouldn't really care about what people say when it comes to bad things, but wouldn't that make you like the bad people who don't care about what people say at all? Feels like a double bind. Feels like I've been put in double binds in many aspects of my life, tearing me apart from the inside.
