public servers are private, leave (Φ)

to what extent do you push away non-friends (strangers) from playing with you?

what's the distinction between someone wanting to play in a server and someone impeding on your time with your friend?

what did you expect when joining a public server?

will you kick them/leave server to play with no-one so you can enjoy your time with your friend?

is it easier to dismiss others in the virtual space?

🥔

keep trying to find a place where you can belong in the world, if it doesn't work, at least feel some belonging to yourself, be good or be good at something

find a way to live with yourself in spite of chronic rejection – do something of value. example: questioning and philosophizing the nature of social interactions in multiplayer videogames and their cascading effects in the real world, while attempting to give life advice gives. if that gives you some sort of solace, then good, consider doing it again, you might get good at it, and if not, that experience can carry over to your next venture

make sure you keep educated about mental health, one of the biggest factors that affects you in every aspect of life. your mind and body adapt to stress, some better than others, some not so much.

if you find yourself fortunate to have to opportunity to connect with people, try your best. don't be too hard on yourself because it isn't helpful to you. if you connect, good. if not, then rest and try a new approach/go elsewhere

you can't take the responsibility of everyone's behavior/mistakes, it's not healthy

you will least you have deduced what people you aren't compatible with, not everyone is going to like you

put your life in order, at least try. start with cleaning/organizing your room (or affairs) as your room can possibly be a manifestation of your mind, reflecting your life. doing this may make you more qualified about talking about others' affairs because you will have taken the steps to put the work in to solve a very hard task. become a problem solver. life is not only dealing with problems but how you deal with them. would life have no purpose with no problems to solve?

humans and their social interactions, unfortunately and/or fortunately one of them

SC: Tksday

Video link

Made within day not worry about committing too much and getting out of groove main project,

Not too big on festivities, but this time, why not, show simple thanks
in video form to you (audience), sooner than later. Beginning of new
journey. Much work to do.

A main project take long time, maybe not as long in future when XP gained
from subsequent productions (making stuff before dying of old age is
good idea).

Taking on smaller projects/uploads on occasion to decrease
single-project burnout.
Initially didn't feel like doing this since will delay a main project
but more delay may be caused from (more) burnout, a big demotivator.
Water flow, crash.
most of any bing soy videos should be "thanks" anyway (making video for
people to "enjoy", not just thanks alone). blog seems preferable for more long winded things

Used SFM to make a gameplay-style video.

Made traditional (non-digital) drawing, more personal touch, not too hard/serious that would never be done.

Was originally going to end with a classic cliff-hanger thing but wanted to add more. A second part.

Making second part, was going to be something about both players dead. When doing a camera zoom out, reminded of a Breaking Bad scene. Don't want to spoil, (click here for scene SPOILER WARNING). Then this second part bled into first part, put dancing boombox demoman, inspired by magmablock's "Dismantling Detriment" SFM film (this part) (watched it many years ago, even before watched Breaking Bad) that references Breaking Bad as well (was initially putting that boombox demoman there as an "explanation" for the background music but realized (again) am too doing Breaking Bad reference with this boombox demoman too). Learned from this comment about the nature of the boombox demoman's animation and it's based on the conga taunt, with tweaking of course.
In retrospect, would've slowed down the animation to make the demoman "bob" to the song's BPM as a nice touch, more aesthetically pleasing, but you could interpret this as the demoman being very excited or affected by a substance other than alcohol (can include self-generated adrenaline caused by the nice music which he may find more pleasing than the usual person).
You may notice a looping error in the boombox demoman animation at the end, but instead of get too mad at that and reupload, it's a small mistake, learn from it. It also shows some human error and that this was indeed made in a day. Now it can be considered part of the "charm" of the video.
Still would rather not have that mistake present.

Linking/continuity examples (improving on this):

  • crow: eating some meat first part, then eating turkey from gibbed blu demo, turkey from healthkit Bing Soy huntsman sniper gave to blu demo to ensure a fair duel
  • demoman: blu team, song lyric "my baby blue" on zoomed in shot of gibbed blu demo
  • boombox demo: sound filter + panning effects to simulate distance walls affecting sound, goes from muddy to clear implying he ran down stairs to play the music for us to hear clearly for the last shot

Credits based on Breaking Bad credits, used a screenshot to make it accurate.
Vince Gilligan, Bing Soy - replaced first 2 letters for first and last names respectively.
Thank Andethson - based on Hank Anderson from Detroit: Become Human. Spelt it in a way to simulate a lisp to obfuscate/add humorous value.
In retrospect, should've put "Thank Schrader" to reference Breaking Bad character "Hank Schrader" but too late, can't be reuploading for every small thing, otherwise nothing may get done.

Title: thanksday ➡️ tyday ➡️ tday ➡️ Tksday
A more unique/slightly obscure way to say thanksgiving day.

Be on the lookout for "easter eggs", usually put them somewhere sometimes obvious, sometimes not.
Want to retain/leave some of the "magic"/"wonder" of them for viewer.

PSA: Backup your work

Woke up to this:

Not something one is eager to see

First, tried to keep calm and solve problem before being stressed (further).

Fortunately, was an easy fix. PC booted from wrong drive (don't know why), so unplugged external drives and worked again. No data was lost.

Video link: "How to Fix Operating System Not Found in Windows (No Bootable Device)" –  EasyTechs

Problems seem to follow in succession, so probably be more frequent with making backups – definitely don't want to risk losing months/years of work, however unlikely.

Have been working on sorting files and backups, on top of video making. Having sorted file structure and having that backed up is very helpful to preserve your hard work and in the case your work somehow gets destroyed, you can rebuild more easily should you have to change PCs.

The more substantial/important your work is, the more you should look into securing it (to a higher degree). It's not too late to start backing up your work. It's not ideal to redo work you've already done. Insure your sanity and backup your work.

how to backup your work - search on YouTube

Get a reliable high capacity external HDD:

  • great for space intensive work (like video projects, game projects, people who rely on computers for their work)
  • cheaper than SSD per byte (but slower file transfer/read)
  • just drag your folders in there at wait
  • long life

USB stick/flash drive

  • compact, convenient for travel, good starting option if don't like the bulk of HDD
  • cheap (at least the lower volumes)
  • quick transfer (compared to HDD)

Other storage options: CDs, cloud, SSD, microSD (space efficient, combine with microSD to USB adapter?)

Would really like to release a video have been working on a while before PC has another problem that may prove more inconvenient. Although problem easily fixed, wasn't pleasant feeling to have months of work possibly affecting life to high degree coming close to being "threatened" (see this post).
Mental health is very important, affects video production. Some have better tools some don't and have to be more mindful of limitations (you should be mindful of limitations regardless).
But we seldom have no choice in what inconveniences meet us in life.
Regardless, will be streamlining project/folder structures/backup process to make possible PC/data loss inconveniences less inconvenient.

This is a reminder that electronics do fail, like anything else. Also a reminder to not let these things stop you. You will inevitably come across many problems in life which will slow you down (goals), but you will move forward and strive to become a great problem solver (alternative not ideal).
Not everyone will be great problem solvers at first, so help others if you are able, in whatever way you can.

Problem solver example

P.S. Some software wasn't working as well (Razer Synapse), tried to troubleshoot to no avail, ended up somehow triggering windows update which manually interrupted (bright idea) since don't like them. After that BSOD, then had to go on another PC to download windows iso on USB, then PC used the USB drive to repair, back to square one. Maybe an update will come, don't like macros being messed with, makes everything less efficient, therefore less likely to do. Try to avoid interrupting windows update if you can. Windows stubborn. But maybe Bing Soy more stubborn, will have to keep pushing forward, possibly making YouTube viable thing, financial security, making equipment failure less worrisome.

(Incomplete, Brief) Debrief of "The Story of TF2's Strangest Player" by elmaxo

Video link

(not sure if will share the exact though processes but there's lots not said, maybe a future video will help be a step toward more info here should decide to go deeper/personal)

the point here is to voice things not obvious, looked over. overall, positive outcome (bing soy video will reflect this, follow up, maybe felt video take too long and make this blogpost for now even though preferable video). maybe good to whoever reads this and want to make story about a person, with more considerations. and maybe good to voice some objection rather than not mention, showing nuance. silence is often mistaken. maybe also good for people for people who think video is too one-sided/creepy (which it was a little, but wasn't that bad).
lots of them below points made using empathy and elimination of doubt with dialogue:
(probably missing stuff but here is main stuff)

  • maybe the framing of the video of investigation and hinting of "arg" misled people, made too dramatic but there is a showmanship element of making videos, almost as if to really sell the video. "mysterious" person gets a "mysterious" theme video, fair enough. maybe not so much bad thing with the misled people, they make up minority among positive/good faith reception and they are thinking which can lead into eventual understanding. did/am still learning faster than ever expected to mentally deal with the things that naturally come to you as a youtuber.
it feels like a discourtesy, rather not do it because know how it feels to not be considered but have to take non-constructive+shamelessly rude people less seriously because it's not helpful and feels like obvious scam to farm grief, some know it, some don't. basic rules of life, show respect and you are worthy of respect, be serious and be taken seriously.
  • the drawings helped immensely show human element unable to be shown by words alone, drawings can help break communication barrier if unable to use words
  • knew could be recorded in "interview", still would've liked to be in the loop or courtesy message saying it will be used. uncletopia is like public arena but at time was only 2 plr, felt more like private conversation
  • should've asked for image plainly and for what use, transparency, trust, build rapport
  • should've send fr earlier, especially considering topic of video, you may come to find they were waiting the whole time. didn't ignore fr, wondering why after all this time.
  • keep subject more in loop, let them see video in advance a week or so, especially if appears to be less extroverted and not currently "popular", mental preparation for increased attention, possible feedback, mutual agreement
  • talk to subject/person, good practice. there may be trouble with infinite feedback loop of silence where both parties are too scared to initiate/respond to messages or too busy or are sick or don't trust each other enough due to lack of interactions which are vital to build rapport over time. silence can be peaceful but also deafening. what's the worst that could happen, awkwardness, chance to learn, mutual benefit? not only starting a "relationship" but developing it?
  • act in way that ensures subject feels undoubtedly considered, human.

[may or may not explain perspective and why did certain things future expand this post, for now use empathy]

don't like stating it again, bing soy is ok with video. actions and intent (of good faith) matter. some things could've been done to make it smoother but life is at times messy ball of nuance. could worry about shoulda/coulda/woulda, but what are you doing now? the past can't be altered (and shouldn't - violation of time law, changing your past inevitably means unwittingly changing a lot more than you can imagine) but you can change the future. story far from over. lots to do. thanks elmaxo.
