S2: "initial morsels"

Video link

This pyro frag video is sort of the initial and less impressive pyro frags I've been saving up.

They are a variety of pyro frags so I have "morsels" in the title, since "scraps" is already taken by sketchek and "leftovers" is taken by Kristianma. I would've probably used "leftovers" but I'm a little late to the party. I can respect Kristianma, so that's more reason for me to not use "leftovers". I guess "morsels" kind of suit me because they are little bits of food - I'm like a chef and I cook up meals in the form of video content. I appreciate Kristianma crediting all music used in his description as that is very honorable (most wouldn't care to provide credits in their videos).

The music chosen was to compliment the carefree, fun and non-seriousness of video, much like the track accomplishes on its own.

Sometimes I do subtle edits in videos just because. Sometimes I'm subtle with chat messages as to not make them the focus of the video.

Blink and you'll miss it

I did make an abridged version of this video for Reddit to share it with the TF2 subreddit and see what would happen. I already shared a TF2 frag video from this channel before so far ("cliff kid"). Strangely, "cliff kid" did better in terms of engagement. I don't want to treat that subreddit like a secondary upload page, so I don't really post videos there often if at all from this channel.

Reddit is a whole 'nother beast so I'll try to gain more intuition before uploading something from this channel again. If I do, the content has to be short, funny or very impressive and keyword here: short.

I don't really like butchering my existing works for the sake of easily digestible and convenient content so I'll probably not upload stuff from here to Reddit. Basically, I just won't recycle stuff from here unless it's so good that your eyes melt, but that's very rare. Also I'm not much of a big Redditor anyway, but in the future, who knows?

S2: "cliff eastwood"

Video link

This is a classic example of me going a little crazy and doing very dumb stuff like involving the Hightower cliff for frags.

I collect many types of frags and I had enough of these kind to make this video. More cliff related kills, but this time, it's me who's closer to the cliff compared to "cliff kid". The title "cliff eastwood" is one I was holding off on since the previous cliff video.

The title is pretty simple - just me replacing "Clint" in "Clint Eastwood" with "cliff". Sounds kind of similar. I also found "cliff eastwood" somewhat amusing as it sounds like a bootleg Clint Eastwood. I could've named it "hermit [something]" but since I was distancing myself more from the tribute component of my defunct sketchek tribute plan, and more to the spirit of the videos of making fun videos, I didn't. When I think about it, my tribute plan was kind of going to be a "resurrection" of sorts. Is this irony? It's like my TF2 channel was going to be his resurrection in spirit, but he ended up coming back from the dead anyway. This feels like some ironic slap to the face, but I'm not sure what irony exactly is, just how I don't know what exactly virtue signaling is and whether it's necessarily a bad thing.

In retrospect, I should've made a new TF2 channel instead of converting my gaming channel to my TF2 channel, as it makes everything more complicated.

The whole video editing direction inspired by sketchek's "hermit pyro" video due to similarities in being like a hermit hiding in weird parts of the map. Not sure if he had Joseph Joestar's stand, "Hermit Purple" in mind when making his title, since he did make a JoJo video before, implying that he might read/watch JJBA.

I think sketchek's "deadmeat" video (post apology) also helped push me to credit the music I used my YouTube video descriptions since my "cliff kid" video. In "deadmeat", sketchek crediting music for once, but there's a catch - he only credits music that was commissioned for him. Sure, if he kept on not crediting anyone at all, it would still be bad - but this is worse, since there is a double standard - crediting music that was made for you but not crediting every other music track you used from various videogames. I might include links to the music in addition to my existing credits in my video descriptions for that extra touch.

I think knowing how bad this double standard was, being to person I am, I probably tried what I can do be the polar opposite of the things I don't like. I think it was around "demodaytime" when I started actually making a "music used" playlist linking to every single music track I used for this channel. Please credit stuff, especially if you're using stuff non-maliciously without permission of the original creator of the material. Show them at least a tiny speck of gratitude.

I would like to tell people to do basic things, but sometimes I know I shouldn't say anything because there are people who laugh at you and pick on you for daring to be a voice of reason. This is one reason why I'm just doing stuff no matter what. If the world isn't nice to me then I'll make it better, which makes you more responsible for everything you do.

I always want others to be more responsible than me because it's only right to expect the best out of others. It's better to think like this than to think the worse out of others, even though you may not have the best experiences with other people.

I can't who sketchek really is as a person, but he has the choice to be a better person.

I can't tell him the steps he needs to take because it's his journey, and because most of this knowledge is gained from having sympathy, empathy, gratitude and responsibility, should it be a genuine transformation.

I know that I'm a very closed person but I would yield and make up for a huge mistake like his.

Yes - right - back to video info. The music for this one is more interesting than usual. Since I was being inspired by sketchek's "hermit pyro" video, I wanted to do something similar but with my own twist to it.

Clint Eastwood x Dynablade Area 3 mashup

I made a mashup of "Clint Eastwood" by Gorillaz and "Dynablade Area 3" from the Kirby Super Star OST. I didn't want to use the same track sketchek used, but I wanted a similar vibe.

I was thinking of using "Clint Eastwood" by Gorillaz in some way in the previous cliff video "cliff kid" which I would've originally named "cliff eastwood". I used a Kirby Super Star soundfont, for that authentic Kirby sound. This cover was more special as it was a mashup and I had to find a way to mash the tracks up in a way which worked. I wanted to stay as true as possible to both tracks so there was some difficulty decided what to do when making the mashup. Even more special, I even made extra melodic components on top of the mashup which weren't part of either of the two songs I was mashing up. I wasn't able to be exactly on point with making a perfect mashup of both, so I settled for an alternative, which was the "pretty good" option instead of the "absolute perfection" one. Allowing myself to make a decision like this enabled me to finish the project within a few days instead of weeks (those weeks would be spend putting it off because it would never be good enough).

I worked with what I got and got an acceptable result.

Not sure if it adds more to the video but I like characters similar to Kirby, which steal abilities and make them their own - much like me. You can probably interpret that as me being Kirby and... you probably know where I'm going with this.

What's really weird about this is that I didn't even credit myself in the video description about the music. I know it goes against me for doing that but at the time, I must of had a reason. Maybe I felt it was too much like flexing if I made a track for my own video and credited myself for it.

Maybe I wanted to do the polar opposite of sketchek again since he (as of the time of writing this - 2020/03/13) only credits music made for him and never had credited once, a track he has taken from other media, so I credited every track in my descriptions, except for my own songs.

Looking back, I shouldn't have done that and it was a messed up thing to do to myself (compromising my values of providing credit) to prove some sort of point which no-one would know about.

I know my older videos lack video credits in the description, but I wanted to preserve everything as much as possible. They do technically have the credits now, since the only thing I added to every video is a blogpost like this one containing the credits.

The intro part is quite obviously inspired by "hermit pyro". I did at least do something more different with the quick closeup shots of my TF2 character at the cliff.

Oh, one more thing - the kill at 0:56 wasn't a real kill - it was a dead ringer spy that feigned their death (hmm). I like to make sure everything is legit as possible and I double checked the clip when I heard a faint dead ringer sound. Lo and behold, my suspicions were correct.

I still wanted to include the clip because in theory/in spirit/it fits the idea of the video; it would still add to the video. It kind of sucks that it wasn't a true kill but would it have been a different light class other than spy, it could've been a kill.

I added a little dead ringer graphic when the spy "died" at that part as acknowledgement that I did in fact know that it was a feigned death. The ridiculousness of the situation and video outweighed the problem that is a feigned spy death because it still adds more than it deducts from the video.

Perhaps past few videos were me just trying to get videos out because it's better than not uploading at all. Nothing really much skillful in this video. Just some dumb flicks and snappy aiming.

Music choice chosen to reflect the carefree and noob-like vibe of the video, as to not take it too seriously. Music if from the beginning town of Pokémon Ruby/Sapphire/Emerald and I was still making the beginning videos of my channel, so they may not initially be so substantial.

All the demos in this video were in chronological order this time. Maybe this was a little start to a more chronological focus to clips, but the rest of the clips in the remaining season 2 videos are not in chronological order (but the focus is regained again in Season 3).

Seems like at this point, was getting more and more fed up with the situation I was put in - the empty tribute. I don't think I would've normally made a demoknight compilation, but maybe I was being less strict with sticking to the "mostly pyro frag video thing" sketchek was doing. Sort of like a "screw it, it's demoknight tf2 time". It's not about sketchek anymore - it's about me and you. We're going to have fun, whether you like it or not.

Title choice was originally going to be "demoknighttime" but I would like to make a better demoknight sequel to this, so I went for the counterpart name: "demodaytime".

Music choice pretty self explanatory, it's the daytime theme for Simon's Quest, and it's pretty much permanently daytime at Hightower.

Perhaps with the higher creative control I have from Season 3, I could do some color grading and skybox replacement to make the sequel look like night time. When you're limited to just Hightower because you abhor random crits so much, you gotta get creative. Limitation drives creativity.

By the way, I record all sorts of clips - not just pyro clips. Even though I like pyro and all, I'd rather not be a slave to making pyro only videos.

I'll leave it unlisted for now for archival purposes and it will only appear in the full TF2 chronology playlist.

I don't want the people who said terrible things to me to be witchhunted, but they should know what they done was very cruel and I might die at any moment (from random chance that is - don't worry, I'm not going to pull a sketchek) and would rather not have this video privated if that happens.

S2: "cliff kid"

Video link

Oh, would you look at that - I started crediting the music I used in the YouTube descriptions from this video onward.

Maybe I wanted to start actually crediting the music I was using, to be more like me and be less like sketchek - who only credits music that was commissioned to him personally (as of 2020/03/13).

I was considering titling the video "cliff eastwood" but if felt that wasn't befitting of this video featuring basic frags of airblasting people off a cliff. I opted for "cliff kid" instead since I was probably planning on more "cliff" videos in the future. The "kid" part of the title was probably from this video being not to substantial and probably inspired by the name "Billy the Kid" since he's a cowboy outlaw and airblasting people off the cliff is pretty evil too. There is also a loose link to Clint Eastwood since Billy the Kid was a cowboy and Clint Eastwood has starred in many cowboy movies. "Clint" and "cliff" are also somewhat similar. The future titles of the cliff series will probably be referencing Clint Eastwood more closely in some variation of the title.

Music was chosen to compliment the cheekiness and chaos that is airblasting people off the Hightower cliff.

Also decided to add in some voice chat dialogue since I wanted to cease the opportunity to be a little more unique than sketchek since he hasn't so far included voice dialogue from another player (as of 2020/03/13).
