S1, SC: "pyro β. goode"

Video link

I think this might have been the bulk of my best Pyro clips which were recorded via OBS screen capture. Probably my best frag video at that time - not so "best" that it's great, more like "best" by default due to the other frag videos thus far being worse (in terms of technicality and impressiveness).

The title is a homage to:

  • Earthbound - the track (New Age Retro Hippy) which was inspired by "Johnny B. Goode", naming convention (PSI Greek alphabet)

  • Chuck Berry - creator of "Johnny B. Goode"

  • Back to the Future - helped popularize "Johnny B. Goode" in the high school dance scene

  • sketchek - naming convention (Earthbound PSI Greek alphabet)

  • TF2: Pyro

Though I may not agree this is "good" pyro gameplay per se, it might be to some. Maybe that's enough for this pun to work a little more.

Seems like I had a lot of tightly grouped uploads around this time. It's a shame that I couldn't keep uploading consistently in the future (from the time of this upload).

The music choice was inspired by Dead by Daylight YouTuber Ussylis when I watched their tech video on flashlights. I think that song was in the back of my head because I was going to upload this video about some technical aspect of a game, much like Ussylis' video. I was more bolstered to use that track since it came from Age of Empires. I only played the first one and that was enough familiarity to get me to use that track.

S1, SC: "hightower sniper leftovers"

Not
much to say. I prefer huntsman sniper because I find hitscan sniper too boring/overpowered/limiting to play. Used this certain track from Super Mario RPG because it felt like it fit and I played the game before. I browse through different OSTs from retro games I've played and see what feels like fits with the video.

Hard Working Moles Are Good Moles

Super Mario RPG OST

S1, SC: "various hightower leftovers"

Video link

Not much to say about this one. Seems like I used "leftovers" instead of "scraps" to be a tiny bit more different than sketchek's "scrap" titles. I didn't choose anything too crazy for the music as I knew these clips weren't anything overly special. Something more lax, music is from early in the game of Mother 3.

Mother 3 OST

S1, SC: "Weird Tide Turner Kills at Hightower"

Video link

Title says it all. Music chosen since I played a bit of FFVI (GBA) and demoman with a shield is like a train - powerful and unstoppable. In this case, a phantom train since the kills are weird; almost eerie.

I had some demoman clips. I think how I played demoman was changed when I watched this demoman frag video by SolarLight (back in that time, that channel was "solarlight2"). Strange - I remember the word "Flex" being in the title and the description seems different.

Anyways, I guess I was so inspired by his trimping and such, that I even got inspired during the video editing process - the music choice and the thumbnail. SolarLight used music from Mighty Switch Force!, and so did I. As for the thumbnail:

Left: SolarLight's thumbnail | Right: 2bing2soy's thumbnail

The Burning Flames Team Captain I put in my thumbnail was for fun since that is a very expensive item and that I have been using no cosmetics at all at that time and still am currently (until the time is right).

In retrospect, I should've credited SolarLight as an inspiration to the video, considering how shameless I was with mimicking his style. Learning and making other people's styles my own thing seems to be my shtick. I basically gave him the sketchek treatment in terms of how dedicated I am with channeling his style.

First clip was in turbine - an oversight, sure - but I'm not as strict on my second channel.

Titling inspired by SolarLight.

The music SolarLight used in his video was good vibes; I liked that track; big energy.

Love You Love You Love (Track 6)

Mighty Switch Force! OST

S1, SC: "to catch a spy"

Video link

An interesting clip I recorded where I trapped/bodyblocked a spy and defeated them in the cubby next to the cart locations.

Not sure what exactly sparked the thought that I should parody the "To Catch a Predator" intro theme, but I have watched that show before. Probably the spy wanting to sap my mini-sentry and me trapping them and punishing the spy for it helped me draw parallels to the show. I speak in this uncertainty because it's hard to precisely remember stuff you done years ago without documenting it in a meaningful way. I also speak with some uncertainty as sometimes we remember things wrong/would be wrong/have false memories, etc. I want to be as true as I can be, even if it hurts me.
