A one take huntsman video that would be more easier to produce than the usual montage video. The difficulty instead come from the new custom HUD I made. I wanted to add more game info which only a HUD could provide without the clutter and blockage. Something minimal, yet familiar. Yes. Half Life 1. Blue Shift. Opposing Force. Team Fortress Classic. I may not be the biggest fan of the latter but I did enjoy those games.
For some reason, I worked on a modern, bigger text version of the HUD because someone wanted the numbers bigger. I now know that I shouldn't have spent time working that early on that variant of the HUD, but it's a lesson learnt/re-inforced: foundation comes first. Here is a little video showcasing that modern variant. Skip to the end to see a screenshot montage of the HUD development process and some of the editing of the huntsman video.
For this video in particular, I had help with the power of video editing to make the HP icon change as I did not know at the time how to do that within the HUD automatically. As of the time of writing this, I figured it out. Instead of delaying the video to a more unreasonable time, and since releasing the video sooner than later would be good for me to have something out (without taking too much shortcuts that would compromise the end product too much of course), I manually animated the icons (basic hide/show) to emulate how they should act in game. I even did a grenade throwing icon on the left side of the screen to mimick TF:C, although I'm not sure if that can be implemented in a HUD, so that's probably something only for this video. Manually animating a HUD is not very practical. In this case, I had a vision, and I wanted it shown sooner than later.

Here is the link to the HL1 style HUD [WIP] on GameBanana. I do plan on completing it as I make my videos but it will take time. Naturally, the deadline is death, and I don't know when that will come. The best I can do is be and stay healthy, be mindful of my mental health which can help with burnout and to keep striving. If for some reason I'm not able to finish it in a few years, anyone is free to pick up where I left off (you are free now, but not advised to waste your time on something that may already be worked on).
I was surprised myself while in the moment of recording the demo, after killing the demo then heavy, but I made sure to keep going because of that "what if". What if there's more? When you play the way I do (volatile), it's moments like these you yearn for, but when it happens, it can put you off balance. This video seems to be the introduction of Uncletopia to the channel. Perhaps part of the reason of the upload, on top of requiem, is from all the time spent playing on Uncletopia, escaping my purgatory of eternal Hightower in a way. Maybe it was when elmaxo crossed paths with mine and decided to include my antics in 2 separate videos on his channel [1-The NPCs of TF2] [2-TF2: The Auto-Balance Atrocity]. Maybe for a few moments, he felt something. Maybe doing crazy things in the game and making these videos have actually made an impact. Maybe this will be explained more on the requiem blogpost, as I am writing this non-chronologically.
Music choice
No music to reflect the mood. Focus. I did at one point consider using some CW's Arrow music to reflect the bowmanship but it was too much.
Thumbnail
Added on 2022-04-25. Some instances the thumbnail doesn't come to me including sometimes not feeling up to it at that moment. Was thinking about getting a screencap from the demo using Lawena+HLAE, but I wanted a little more.
