My last TF2 video of Chapter 1 of my gaming channel. I will be including TF2 videos from my second channel in the full TF2 Chronology playlist for extra historical value and context to my TF2 journey.
The
title "preemptive scraps" isn't much complicated - frags about being
one step ahead, even though some weren't really "preemptive" and I
wasn't too proud of including that melee crit kill (even though I didn't realize
it immediately, but that flick was kind of cool). It's ok now, since I exclusively only feature frags
from non-crit vanilla servers (unless there is a good reason to make an
exception in some cases). The "scraps" part was inspired by sketchek,
since his leftover clips he doesn't just but still wants to use are put
in "scrap" videos, which are basically outtakes/miscellaneous clips that
didn't make the cut for a "full" video. I know the purpose behind it
but not exactly sure how sketchek decided on the word "scraps". Maybe
because there's scrap metal in game? Maybe "scraps" is just catchy and
fits the exact purpose of the leftover clips - scraps.
To be clear, none of the videos so far have involved demo files. All screen capture from OBS.
I'm not
sure if at this point I started recording actual .dem files (demo files
- kind of like in-game recordings for TF2) . The earliest one I found
was in the garbage bin of one of my hard drives:
| Earliest non-deleted demo |
I'm pretty sure I've been recording some demo files even before that date since it was located in a foldername I recognize when I was in the early stages of being more organized when sorting demos.
I think I learned about the existence of demo files when reading the pastebin links of sketchek's "txt" video. I have previously read it, but I read it more thoroughly the second. It was a good thing I was very invested in sketchek and saw his demo script. I tried it, then altered it, since I didn't exactly like how it worked. Good thing I had a little experience with basic TF2 scripting at the time.
I was concerned when I didn't know demos were a thing and thought the footage was recorded using replays (they aren't the same as demos). I will get more into the technical details of demos and recording in future blogposts.
If you didn't know, I intentionally try to avoid using the same music tracks as sketchek to kind of not tread on his figurative toes. I try to be as original as I can within my limitations.
